What we do
Our expertise covers key areas essential to sustainable development and humanitarian response. We specialize in advocacy to influence policy and drive meaningful social change, child protection to safeguard vulnerable children through legal and programmatic support, and conflict mitigation to promote stability in fragile contexts.
We are also deeply committed to gender equality, integrating gender considerations across all our programs and addressing issues such as gender-based violence and women’s empowerment. Our work in human rights and protection strengthens legal and institutional frameworks to uphold international standards. In migration and forced displacement, we provide strategic guidance on refugee protection, internally displaced persons (IDPs), human trafficking, and migrant smuggling. Additionally, we enhance access to justice by ensuring legal systems are inclusive, equitable, and accessible to marginalized communities.
Capacity Development
We conduct the full range of capacity development work for development and humanitarian partners: needs assessments and gap analyses; participatory and interactive training sessions; designing capacity building modules on a wide variety of topics, including facilitation techniques; feedback mechanisms and lessons learned; and accompaniment of trainers after capacity development.
Evaluation
Intensive evaluation of projects and programs before, during, and after implementation using OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) criteria. We assess what’s possible in the relevant contexts and what has been done well and not-so-well, and always provide actionable recommendations about how to strengthen interventions. We’re independent, honest, accountable, and constructive – and we recognize the situations and background in which the evaluated actions work.
Project Design
Appropriate, innovative design is the first key step in making sure that development assistance projects are effective, and we can assist in facilitating the project design process.
Project Management
We have an extensive background in development and humanitarian project management, both the relevant technical skills and the administrative know-how to deliver successful, on-time, on-budget projects.
Research and Analysis
We are able to provide evidence and data to inform programming and provide country context, utilizing in-country teams and mixed methods of research, from key informant interviews (KII) to focus group discussions (FGD) to household surveys. Data collection and assessment is complemented by policy analysis, including legal research by experienced lawyers.
Safeguarding and Financial Crime Response
Conducting investigations, developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), drafting investigatory tools, and managing steering committees – we can guide the entire process of safeguarding and financial crime response in development and humanitarian settings while centering survivors and ensuring confidentiality.
System Strengthening and Organizational Change
Our deep experience at every level and phase of implementation, as well as in leading systemic change processes, allows us to support intensive system strengthening and organizational change management, including coaching and mentoring; charitable registration; and Powers of Attorney (POA) and Delegations of Authority.
Sectors & Themes
Advocacy
We work with stakeholders at all levels to drive policy change, amplify marginalized voices, and promote human rights-based approaches. Through research, capacity-building, and engagement with policymakers, we support the advancement of just and equitable systems. Our advocacy strategies are tailored to influence policies, mobilize stakeholders, and create impactful campaigns that address systemic challenges and promote social justice.
Child Protection
We provide expertise in designing and implementing child protection programs that safeguard children's rights, protecting them from abuse, exploitation, and violence, particularly in fragile contexts. Our work also includes preventing child labor, strengthening child protection mechanisms, and supporting holistic child development by ensuring they have access to education, healthcare, and a safe environment to thrive.
Conflict Mitigation and Fragile Contexts
In regions affected by instability and conflict, we provide tailored strategies for conflict- sensitive programming, peace building initiatives, and resilience-building efforts to protect vulnerable communities and promote long-term stability. Our expertise includes conflict analysis, community engagement, and the development of strategies to address root causes of instability.
Coordination Mechanisms
We strengthen multisectoral coordination by facilitating partnerships, streamlining processes, and enhancing inter-agency collaboration to improve humanitarian and development responses. Our expertise extends to national, regional, and international coordination frameworks.
Gender
We integrate gender-responsive approaches into policy and program development, ensuring gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the elimination of gender-based violence (GBV). Our expertise includes gender mainstreaming, capacity-building, and the development of gender-sensitive interventions. We work to ensure that gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of policy and programming.
Human Rights and Protection Generally
With expertise in the Right to Food, International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and International Human Rights Law (IHRL), we support governments, civil society, and international organizations in utilizing treaty reporting mechanisms and engaging in the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process to strengthen human rights protections globally.
Migration and Forced Displacement
We provide expert guidance on policies and programs addressing the needs of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and migrants. Our work includes combatting trafficking in persons, migrant smuggling, and promoting adherence to international frameworks such as the UN Convention on Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and its Palermo Protocol.
