Who We Are
Josh Friedman is the Managing Director of Andilay Consultancy firm based in Vienna, Austria. Josh has 25 years of experience as a lawyer, development assistance implementer, and program directoron four continents.
After a decade practicing law in Boston – first as a prosecutor of gender violence crimes and then as a civil litigator – he jumped into development cooperation work with the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) pro bono program in Tajikistan managing a team of five national attorneys delivering legal aid to rural women.
From there, Josh worked with NGOs and bilateral agencies in East and Southern Africa to manage multimillion dollar projects protecting the rights of refugees, IDPs, and other vulnerable migrants. He also managed humanitarian response programming in Ethiopia and Djibouti for Eritrean, South Sudanese, Somali, and Sudanese refugees.
Fridah Kibuko
Fridah Kibuko is currently the Country Coordinator – Kenya for WIDU.Africa – a German Agency for
International Cooperation (GIZ) Programme that leverages diaspora remittances for sustainable
business investments in Kenya.
Fridah is a professional project management specialist, trainer and evaluator with an eighteen-year
record of successfully launching, directing and managing complex programs in international
development. Her expertise in thematic areas of focus have been in Migration Governance, Peace
and Security, Human Rights and Financial Management.
Notably, Fridah has played a pivotal role in shaping evaluation practices on the African continent. As
one of the few evaluators who contributed to the development of the current evaluation system
utilized by Amani Africa continental exercises, she undertook responsibilities ranging from
conceptual development, indicator drafting, training of evaluators and enumerators. Her expertise
extends to the development of digital systems for data collection and analysis, reinforcing her
commitment to advancing evaluation methodologies in the field.
She has field experience in Eastern Africa, including Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania,
Somalia, Sudan and Uganda. Her experience is embedded on a strong educational background at a
master’s level in international relations, project management, CPA-K, finance and education
(Economics).
Nuha Yousif
With 18 years of extensive experience in international organizations such as the ICRC, UNHCR, UNDP, and GIZ, Nuha brings a wealth of expertise across both public and private sectors. Her diverse portfolio includes management, general administration, human resources, migration, and protection, along with significant engagement with civil society organizations.
In addition to her organizational work, she has independently and collaboratively contributed to evaluations, research, c-apacity building and mappings as a freelance consultant. As project manager Nuha is very skilled in leading teams towards achieving objectives and results.
Nuha is adept at facilitating and moderating professional events, ensuring impactful dialogue and collaboration.
Holding a master’s in business administration (MBA) and a bachelor’s in organizational management, Nuha has complemented her academic achievements with a variety of professional trainings. She possesses a deep understanding of the East African context and is fluent in both English and Arabic.
Hiwote Tadesse
Hiwote Tadesse is accomplished international development expert with extensive experience in migration management, human rights, governance, and gender equality. With a legal background and a master’s in international Migration and Ethnic Relations from Malmo University, she brings a rights-based and policy-driven approach to her work.
Throughout her career, Hiwote has successfully led and contributed to high-impact programs across Africa, working with esteemed international organizations such as GIZ, Plan International, and the Danish Refugee Council. Her expertise spans program management, policy advisory, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building, with a strong emphasis on child rights, women’s rights, and protection mechanisms.
As a consultant, Hiwote has played a pivotal role in research, monitoring and evaluation, feasibility assessments, and program implementation across diverse thematic areas, including forced displacement, human trafficking, access to justice, and conflict mitigation.
Her career also includes leadership roles in major regional initiatives, including her tenure Adenauer Foundation, where she facilitated high-level policy dialogues on civic education, human rights, migration, and peace and security. She has been instrumental in designing and executing capacity-building programs, aligning strategies with international frameworks, and advising on best practices for legal and institutional reform.
Fluent in English and Amharic, Hiwote is passionate about working on inclusive governance and sustainable solutions for migration, protection, and access to justice.
